We thought you may like to learn a little more about our company Moral Fibre Ltd.

Our mission is to distribute, represent and promote environmentally-friendly fibres within the UK and Europe.

With more than thirty years experience in the textile industry, both in the UK and internationally, we believe that the issue of sustainability in both the ways textiles are both manufactured and used has to be the way forward if change is to be made within this sector.

Not only do textiles have to work with our 21st century lifestyle, they also must not be made detrimental our future well-being. By that we mean, they must be biodegradable as well as highly functionable in order that they last longer and we replace them less often. This philosophy is almost at odds with our ‘throw-away’ consumer-driven society, where we expect built in obsolescence with almost every product which we purchase. A mind-set change is needed if we are to improve the waste issue which we currently have in the UK regarding our textile cast-offs; only one eighth is recycled and the remainder will end up in land fill sites.

In the UK consumers spend on average £780 per head, each year, on clothing, or around 35kg per person. As our clothes become cheaper, we are buying more of them and disposing of them just as easily. In the not so distant past, recycling and choosing fewer good quality fabrics was not just about thriftiness, it was simply on the basis of common sense that higher quality purchases actually last longer!

What is also currently disturbing, is that the growth in global fabric volume, is almost entirely associated with polyester, a man-made environmentally-unfriendly fibre, while volumes of natural production and use has remained constant for several years.

Our drivers and questions to these issues are “what might happen if the way that textiles are made and used were to be changed and what would happen if we used different fibres which were manufactured in a more sustainable way?”.

We believe Bamboo is the fibre for mass-production for the 21st century and we hope you will spend a few minutes to read the information on this site and contact us to discuss further.
